Oil Rubbed Bronze Door Knocker Selection
Our Oil Rubbed Bronze and Venetian Bronze door knocker finishes are created on our solid brass castings. The first step is to polish and satin the brass casting to the desired finish. The casting is then copper plated and then polished again.

The copper plated door knocker is placed in a special oxidizer that turns the surface to a blackish brown color. The door knocker is lightly polished to even the texture of the surface and expose just a little of the copper plating below which is now a chocolate brown.

This surface provides great contrast for engraving. The engraving shows the exposed copper plating against the darkened body.

The preparation of the Oil Rubbed Bronze finish is identical to a Venetian Bronze finish. The difference between them is that the venetian bronze finish gets a clear gloss lacquer coating while the oil rubbed bronze receives a clear satin lacquer coating.
