Antique Brass Door Knocker Selection

The surface of the casting's natural brass gold tone is machine buffed smooth and hand polished.

An abrasive media is used to dull the surface and create a horizontal grain effect.

After engraving the unit is oxidized to a dark brown to black color. A very fine abrasive is used to lightly polish out the oxidation leaving the highlights brownish gold and the details dark brown to black.

This finish provides great contrast for engraving. Because we engrave before we oxidize. The engraving remains dark on the gold surface.

There is no plating involved with our antique brass. A clear lacquer is applied to protect the finish.
